Fr. Vignan Das Appointed as Associate Director, Communio

Bangalore 3 May, 2022 (CCBI): Fr. Gangula Vignan Das (40) is appointed as the Associate Director for Communio. The Communio is the funding agency of the Latin Church in India to assist the missionaries working in rural areas. The appointment was made by the Executive Committee of the CCBI held on 2 and 3 May, 2022.

Fr. Das is a Jesus Youth priest incardinated to Archdiocese of Nagpur, Maharashtra. He is a software engineer and worked as the assistant manager of Virinchi Technologies, Hyderabad (2008-2009). He joined Jesus Youth lay missionary movement and was ordained deacon during the XV World Youth Day celebrations at St. Joseph’s Church, Krakow, Poland. He was ordained priest on 29 December, 2016.

He was born on 30 October 1982 at Pezzonipet, Vijayawada Diocese of Andhra Pradesh. He did his philosophical and theological studies at Collegio Urbaniana, Rome. He holds Licentiate in Canon Law, from Urbaniana University, Rome, Bachelors in Computer Applications from Nagarjuna University and Masters’ in Information Systems from Andhra University. He holds diploma in journalism and multimedia from Santa Croce University, Rome and worked one year in FIDES News Agency, Rome.

He worked as software marketing executive, Star Mega Systems, Visakhapatnam (2004-2005); technical support executive in Brigade Corporation, Hyderabad (2005-2006); technical support executive, in Virinchi Technologies, Hyderabad (2006-2007) and assistant manager in Virinchi Technologies, Hyderabad 2008-2009.

He was the assistant parish priest, St. Pius X Church, Mankapur, Nagpur and an archivist at Archbishop’s House, Nagpur (2017-2018); Chaplain for Jesus Youth International at Thailand (2018-2019); priest collaborator at “Santa Maria Immacolata all’Esquilino” Rettoria Church, Rome (2020-2021) and assistant priest at St. Joseph Church, Songlhuh, Nagaland (2021-2022).
