Fr. Charles Leon Appointed as the Vocation Commission Secretary

Bangalore 3 May 2022 (CCBI): Rev. Dr. Charles Leon (59) from the Archdiocese of Trivandrum is appointed as the Executive Secretary to the CCBI Commission for Vocations, Seminaries, Clergy and Religious (VSCR). The appointment was made by the Executive Committee of the CCBI held on 2 and 3 May, 2022. He is currently the Secretary to the KRLCBC Commission for Vocations and the Secretary to the KCBC Commission for Education. He will be ex-officio the Secretary to the Association of Rectors of the Major Seminaries (ARMS) and also Conference of Diocesesan Priests of India (CDPI).

He was born on 15 March 1961 and ordained priest on 21 December, 1985. He holds B. Ph and B. Th from Pontifical Institute, Alwaye, MSW in social work from Loyola College, Trivandrum, PG Diploma in human rights from Hyderabad Central University, M. Phil in Health Economics from JNU, New Delhi and Ph. D in Social Work from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala.

He served the Archdiocese of Trivandrum as parish priest, vicar forane from1986 to 2016; Director of social work from1991 to1994; Director of Diocesan Jubilee memorial Hospital from 1994 to 1999; Manager of St. Joseph’s Higher Secondary School, Trivandrum from 2003 to 2009; Associate Professor, Loyola College of Social Sciences, Trivandrum from 1999 to 2017, Principal, St. Xavier’s Arts and Science College, Calicut from 2017 to 2019, Member of Kerala University Senate from2004 to 2008. He is well know for his workshops and lectures.
