Foundation Stone Laid for Pontifical Organisations New Building

Bangalore, January 29, 2024 (CCBI): In a momentous ceremony held on Monday 29 January 2024, the foundation stone for the new building of the Pontifical Mission Organization of the Conference of Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI) was laid in Bangalore. The ceremony was presided over by His Eminence Filipe Neri Cardinal Ferrão, President of CCBI and Metropolitan Archbishop of Goa and Daman, and attended by distinguished dignitaries, clergy, and guests.

Among the esteemed guests present were Most Rev. Dr. George Antonysamy, Vice President of CCBI and Metropolitan Archbishop of Madras-Mylapore; Rev. Dr. Stephen Alathara, Deputy Secretary General of CCBI; and Rev. Dr. Ambrose Pachaimuthu, National Director of Pontifical Mission Organizations and Executive Secretary of CCBI Commission for Proclamation.

The ceremony was graced by the presence of Rev. Dr Richard Britto, Rector, St Peter’s Pontifical Seminary, Bangalore, Rev. Dr. John Baptist, Director, NBCLC, along with Reverend Fathers, Reverend Sisters, and esteemed guests, creating a sacred and communal atmosphere for this auspicious event.

Fr. Stephen Alathara extended a warm welcome to the gathering, while Fr. Ambrose Pitchaimuthu delivered the vote of thanks. In his address, Cardinal Filipe Neri Ferrão emphasized the pivotal role played by the Pontifical Mission Societies in the Church in India.

The new building of the Pontifical Mission Organization signifies a significant step forward in enhancing the mission and outreach of CCBI, reaffirming its commitment to serving the community and promoting the values of compassion and solidarity.
