Bishop Salvadore Lobo of Baruipur Retired

Bangalore 4 May 2020 (CCBI): His Holiness Pope Francis has accepted the resignation of His Excellency Most Rev. Salvadore Lobo (75) from the pastoral care of the diocese of Baruipur, West Bengal on Monday 4 May 2020. He is succeeded by His Excellency Most Rev. Shyamal Bose (59), currently coadjutor of the same diocese.

Bishop Salvadore Lobo was born on 30 April, 1945, in Mangalore diocese, Karnataka. He was ordained a priest on 19 March 1973, and served as Vicar General and then Administrator of Baruipur diocese before being appointed its bishop on 16 October 1997. He was ordained Bishop on 29 January 1998. He was the Chairman of the CBCI Office for Social Communications. He is a priest for 47 years and a Bishop for 22 years.

Bishop Shyamal Bose was born in Gosaba in the Diocese of Baruipur, on 24 March, 1961. He was ordained priest on 5 May, 1991. He was appointed Coadjutor Bishop on 17 May 2019 and ordained Bishop on 24 June 2019.
