Bangalore 2 January, 2019 (CCBI): His Holiness Pope Francis has appointed Most Rev. Prakash Mallavarapu (69) Archbishop of Visakhapatnam as the Apostolic Administrator Sede vacante et ad nutum Sanctae Sedis of the Diocese of Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh on 2 January, 2019.
Archbishop Prakash Mallavarapu was born on 29 January, 1949 and ordained priest on 11 October, 1979. He was appointed as the second Bishop Cuddapah on 22 May, 1998 and ordained as Bishop on 22 July, 1998. He was transferred to Vijayawada on 26 July, 2002 and appointed as the Metropolitan Archbishop of Visakhapatnam on 3 July, 2012. He was the Secretary General of the CCBI from 2005 to 2011. He is a priest for 19 years and a Bishop for 20 years.
