CCBI Releases Synod Synthesis Report: “A Synodal Church in Mission”

Bangalore, November 21, 2023 (CCBI): The Conference of Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI) releases the Synod Synthesis report titled “A Synodal Church in Mission,” capturing the essence of the XVI Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops’ first session, held from October 4-29, 2023.

His Eminence Oswald Cardinal Gracias, Archbishop of Bombay, unveiled the report during a ceremony at Dharmaram Vidhya Kshetra, Bangalore on Tuesday November 21, 2023. The inaugural copy was handed over to His Eminence Anthony Cardinal Poola, Archbishop of Hyderabad.

The event, graced by the presence of eminent leaders such as, Archbishop Peter Machado of Bangalore, Bishop Allwyn D’Silva, Auxiliary Bishop Emeritus of Bombay, Rev. Dr. Joy Philip Kakkanattu, President, Dharmaram Vidhya Kshetram and Rev. Dr. Stephen Alathara, Deputy Secretary-General of CCBI celebrated the culmination of this monumental effort.

Structured into three comprehensive parts, the report offers profound insights into the practice and understanding of synodality and its theological foundations. The second section delves into the intricate web of relationships within the Church, exploring the roles and connections among all in its life and mission. The third part paints a vivid picture of synodality as a dynamic set of processes and a network of bodies fostering exchange between Churches and engaging in a meaningful dialogue with the world.
