Bangalore, July 23, 2023 (CCBI): The CCBI Women’s Commission organised nationwide protest against Manipur assault. The protest peace rally was conducted in the 132 dioceses of the Latin Church in India in collaboration with the same-minded organisations.
In the nation’s capital city, the protest march was flagged off by Abp. Anil Couto, Archbishop of Delhi, and the Secretary General of the CCBI. Thousands of women belonging to various associations and movements, under the banner of the CCBI Women’s Commission, participated in the protest march. Demonstrators express anger and seek accountability and demanded justice for the victims.
On July 23, people of several Churches conducted a human chain and prayer session in Ranchi, the state capital of Jharkhand, for peace and harmony in Manipur. Abp. Felix Toppo of Ranchi led more than 10,000 people who stood on the street from 10 a.m. to noon with banners and placards calling for peace and justice. Along with the youth, the archbishop was accompanied by the heads of various Christian groups and lawyers.
