Bp. Sebastian Kallupura Appointed as the Coadjutor Bishop of Patna

Bangalore 29 June, 2018 (CCBI): His Holiness, Pope Francis has appointed His Excellency Most Rev. Sebastian Kallupura (64), until now Bishop of Buxar, Bihar as Coadjutor Bishop of the Archdiocese of Patna. This ecclesiastical provision was made public in Rome on Friday, 29th June, 2018, at noon local time, corresponding to 15:30 hours, Indian Standard Time.

His Excellency Most. Rev. Sebastian Kallupura, was born on 14 July, 1952 at Teekoy, in the Diocese of Palai, Kerala. In 1971 he joined the Minor Seminary in Palai for Patna Diocese, and was ordained Priest on 14 May, 1984. He holds a Bachelor of Education from Bombay University. He served the Archdiocese of Patna as Parish Priest in various parishes, as Assistant Treasurer, Director of the Archdiocesan Social Apostolate and Director of the Bihar Social Forum. He was elected Bishop of Buxar on 7 April, 2009 and ordained on 21 June, 2009. He is a priest for 34 years and a Bishop for 9 years.
